Building on a foundation of traditional patchwork, I use innovative materials and techniques to add layers of meaning and ambiguity to my work.  Many of my recent pieces include hand-dyed cotton and gauze, silk and sunprints. Machine stitching, hand embroidery, beading, photo transfer, collage and paint combine to add images and textural elements. Much of my imagery comes from my original photos.
While pursuing an Honours degree in Fine Arts at Concordia University, I often submitted work in cloth. My final year thesis was a multimedia project on traditional quilting. I taught elementary school for twenty years, and have had the privilege of teaching a variety of quilting classes to hundreds of adult students.
